With “Hive Synthesis,” Bioni Samp creates symbiotic frequency relationships between humans and bees, aiming to raise awareness of the increasingly fragile ecosystem of bees. Drones, worker bees, and the queen bee each have individual frequencies. Using binaural recordings of beehives and sounds produced by a “Hive Synthesizer” made from recycled electrical components and open-source software (Bela), Bioni Samp creates tracks at the intersection of ambient, experimental, noise, and techno. It’s an audio journey into the heart of a beehive.
