Codie is a live coding collective that creates audio-visual performances through the practice of “programming on the fly”. Instead of writing and compiling the code in advance, they improvise with their codes to create electronic sounds and video projections. Colourful patterns and abstract shapes animate and move in rhythm. Algorithmically manipulated layers of audio samples form the soundtrack. The resulting sounds and videos influence each other at the moment of performance and form an interdependent, constantly evolving work.

Bio

The live coding collective Codie consists of Kate Sicchio and Sarah Groff Hennigh-Palermo. The two produce live A/V shows with electronic sounds and video projections, which they perform at conferences and galleries around the world, as well as online at Algoraves.
Sarah codes her visuals – patterns and abstract shapes that move in rhythm and animate each other – using her self-produced ClojureScript electron app La Habra. Kate creates the sounds in the Ruby-based environment Sonic Pi. She manipulates and overlays samples with algorithms.
