Dear festival visitors,

tones, sounds, noises – the BLAUES RAUSCHEN festival brings the audible to life in a special way. For the seventh time, it combines electronic music and sound composition, light and video art, dance and performances. Under the motto “Opening minds through art”, the festival aims to raise awareness of culture in the Ruhr area and develop the region artistically.

With its innovative concept and high artistic quality, the art and culture festival also impressed the international jury of the NEUE KÜNSTE RUHR funding program. It fits in perfectly with the aims of our state funding program: to support young art forms in the Ruhr area – such as electronic music culture, digital arts, urban arts and new circus – and to offer artists attractive working conditions in the region. What you can hear and experience here is often still unfamiliar and therefore an important contribution to the development of compositions and music, which have long since accompanied and influenced us not only in concerts, but also in games and films.

This year, the festival can be experienced in even more locations: In addition to Bochum, Dortmund, Essen, Gelsenkirchen and Herne, the compositions and performances can now also be seen in Duisburg and Mülheim. This will give even more people the opportunity to get to know these art forms. WDR is making a decisive contribution to this with its media partnership thus making the festival known to a wider audience beyond the performance and exhibition venues.

I wish the association “open systems e.V.” a successful festival, the participating artists a well-deserved response and all visitors a lot of fun at the seventh edition of BLAUES RAUSCHEN!
