This year, the BLAUES RAUSCHEN festival is returning to its roots: the premiere of this new idea took place in the Flottmann-Hallen in 2017. With previously unheard-of sounds and adventurously electrified performances, a dynamic breath of the future wafted through our industrial monument.

After two festival editions in the “Alter Wartesaal”, we are now once again looking forward to digital sound experiments, unusual instruments and pixel cascades under the sign of the “Bohrhammer”. With its various rooms and stages, the halls are ideal for the festival’s special concept: Due to the rapid change of performances between Hall IV and the Theatersaal, the audience experiences a particularly dense and intense sound journey with practically no changeover break.

As a cooperation partner of the BLAUES RAUSCHEN brand, Herne, along with five other municipalities in the Ruhr region, is paving the way for an increasingly strong and important awareness of the importance of art and culture that incorporates contemporary technology. BLAUES RAUSCHEN uses analog and digital means to create new images, new sounds, new stories and, as a result, new questions about social coexistence in the present and future. This is how we understand change here in the region.

I wish the guests, artists and the organization team a successful, inspiring festival.
