Marja Ahti’s captivating live electronics combine field recordings and synthetic sounds to create heterophonies in which the notions and experiences of what could be artificial or natural are shaken. At BLAUES RAUSCHEN she will perform a set that combines new material with unique realizations of current pieces. Ahti combines her sound collections with synthesizers and electronic feedback to find the space in which these sounds begin to communicate. She makes music that rides waves of slowly distorting harmonies and mutating textures – raw, edgy, detailed and precise.
Bio
Marja Ahti is a Swedish-Finnish sound artist and electroacoustic composer. Working with field recordings, feedback, analog synthesis, digital processing and acoustic instrumentation she investigates the borderland where sounds mirror each other and communicate. She creates precise musical narratives with slowly mutating textures of detailed acoustic sound and intuitively tuned sustained tones and shapes, often on the brink of collapse, collision or feedback. Her music unfolds in a poetic realm between the acousmatic and the documentaristic, hovering between abstraction and the deeply familiar.
