Since the late 1990s, Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje has made a name for herself in the scenes of noise, free improvisation, and live electronics. Her main instrument is her own voice, which she extends with a constantly changing arsenal of electronic tools, first in groups like SPUNK and as a solo artist, starting with the release of her first solo album, “Voice,” in 2002. The centerpiece of Ratkje’s improvised solo performance is her voice, processed and resampled in real-time using specially developed software and various analog sound sources. Everything is generated in real-time, ensuring that no two concerts are alike.
