Volunteer Call
For the 8th time, BLAUES RAUSCHEN explores the interface between experimental sound art, digital innovation and new musical perspectives – AND YOU CAN BE PART OF IT!
As a volunteer you will be right at the heart of the festival operations. We offer you the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of an international experimental festival, get close to a diverse choice of artists and help making BLAUES RAUSCHEN an experience you won’t forget. Your main responsibilities will include ticket sales, production, hospitality and communications.
You’ll receive free admission on three festival days of your choice (in addition to the days you work as a volunteer), including vegan catering and drinks.

FAQ
What kind of festival is BLAUES RAUSCHEN?
BLAUES RAUSCHEN is an independant non-commercial festival for digital sound experiments, electronic music, performance, dance and installation. It is run by open systems e.V., a small team of art and sound enthusiasts from different disciplines. The artistic director is composer, musician and media producer Karl-Heinz Blomann.
Important note: The festival is 100% based on public funding and selected sponsors. You will find all contributors on our website on the partners page. On the other hand all fare box revenues will remain at the venues and the organisations behind them.
What kind of artists appear at BLAUES RAUSCHEN?
Most of the artists at BLAUES RAUSCHEN are experimental electronic artists that can be considered part of the „freie Szene“. At the festival you won´t find „headliners“ as all artists are considered equally. Each performance will last for about 25 min. Please check our program for this year´s line-up.
Where does the festival take place at? At what kind of venues?
BLAUES RAUSCHEN 2026 live events will take place in Essen, Dortmund, Bochum, Herne, Mülheim and Duisburg. And there will be satellite events in Gelsenkirchen and Kaarst.
The venue range is from small, intimate alternative stages for an audience of 50 persons to concert halls for about 350 visitors. The idea is to have a pretty close and intimate situation without classical frontiers between artists and audience. As sometimes there are limited capacities, we can´t invite you to all events for free. But you can make a choice of three further events except from the one you will be helping at.
How many artists will perform on each day of the festival?
On each evening, there will be three live performances of about 25 min.
What kind of support do we want from you?
As a volunteer you will be right at the heart of the festival operations. We offer you the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of an international experimental festival, get close to a diverse choice of artists and help making BLAUES RAUSCHEN an experience you won’t forget.
Phase One: the promotion. You will distribute posters and leaflets at popular venues.
Phase Two: the events. From stage setup to artist support to takedown: you will be a close assistant to our local production management. Your responsibilities may also include ticket sales, hospitality, photo and video documentation or communications.
What kind of preparation will we offer?
There will be an online-meeting and one in person beforehand. Our head of production management will invite you and describe what will be happening on each single day of the festival.
