TinTin Patrone
- This is Sparta
Machines as helpful aides to human goals are not only being questioned in the growing debate on artificial intelligence. Against this backdrop, TinTin Patrone presents a performance combining music, choreography, robotics and body augmentation. At its centre is a modified electric wheelchair, which transforms from an aid into a kind of idiosyncratic partner. Therapy, assistive technology and pop culture serve not only as references, but also as material from which a fragile, sometimes aggressive relationship between body and machine emerges. The performance at the BLAUES RAUSCHEN Festival is based on generative storytelling: live image and text input are translated via AI into a continuously re-edited voice of the wheelchair. This voice reacts to the audience, comments on the musician and helps to control the course of the performance. Speech is spontaneous, part of the musical improvisation of trombone, voice and electronics, and at the same time leaves traces of a growing form or protocol.
In her work, Hamburg-based musician, composer and performance artist TinTin Patrone (real name Christina Köhler) combines improvised music, electronic systems and choreographic structures. In this process, she uses non-human performers and algorithmic systems to explore power, dependency and intimacy in hybrid sound bodies. Köhler regularly collaborates with experimental musicians, choreographers and technologists to develop performative formats that merge music, movement and interactive technologies.
