Resonant systems: air, algorithm, body
At storyLab kiU in Dortmund’s U, we meet Yolanda Uriz Elizalde, Hye Young Sin and TinTin Patrone, three artists who understand sound as the result of complex interactions. The focus is on air, resistance and algorithmic processes, elementary physical forces that are transformed into hybrid constellations of performance, installation and digital control.
Air currents are generated and modulated, analogue instruments rely on digital networks, machines appear as idiosyncratic co-players. Language is generated, processes react to the audience, perception shifts between hearing, seeing and smelling. Technology appears here not as a tool, but as a counterpart in constant negotiation with the body.
In the afternoon, Yolanda Uriz Elizalde will give a lecture talk on multi-sensory interference and working with scent as an ephemeral material in sound art.
The evening concert is thus not conceived as a sequence of individual contributions, but as a precisely set overall format: a laboratory of resonant systems in which humans, machines and materials negotiate in real time what sound can be today.
