How does a 10-year-old girl imagine the future of life on Earth? Which methods will scientists of the future develop to deal with multi-resistant germs? Generation S is an audiovisual performance that explores the fragile relationship between nature, the body and technology across almost five generations. In this work, voices, objects and field recordings, as well as live microscopy and projection, become an abstract but physically tangible acoustic experience. In cyclical compositional processes with unpredictable breaks, this pre-pandemic work already addresses the vulnerability of the body, viral threats and the technological penetration of everyday life – sensually, precisely, consciously.

Swiss performance, sound and media artist Steffi Weismann combines voice, language, action and media in her work. Influenced by the Fluxus movement and her long-standing collaboration with the Maulwerker ensemble, she develops performances on the threshold between analogue and digital, often using Max/MSP/Jitter. Weismann translates tactile, bodily experiences into complex sound processes, working with microscopic objects, amplified bodily phenomena and live voice.
