Ladies and gentlemen,
dear artists and cultural professionals,
dear audience,
it is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to the BLAUES RAUSCHEN festival at Lokal Harmonie on behalf of the City of Duisburg.
The fact that a festival like BLAUES RAUSCHEN with its focus on experimental sound art, digital transformation and interdisciplinary performance has found its way to Duisburg is a strong sign of the openness and diversity of our cultural landscape.
As an independent cultural venue, Lokal Harmonie exemplifies what we want to strengthen in terms of cultural policy in Duisburg: independent spaces for artistic experiments, for cross-border formats, for new perspectives. This is where discourse is initiated, where culture is created that picks up on social developments, reflects on them − and sometimes even challenges them.
The festival brings together international artists who not only explore new aesthetic forms, but also negotiate questions of our time − about technology, perception and the role of art in a changing world. Such impulses are essential for a vibrant urban society.
As a city, we are specifically committed to cultural participation and the promotion of the independent scene − with the aim of further raising Duisburg’s profile as a cultural city where artistic diversity is not only visible, but can also be experienced.
I would like to thank the organizers of BLAUES RAUSCHEN, the team at Lokal Harmonie and everyone involved for their commitment and creativity − and wish you and all of us an inspiring festival evening full of surprising sounds, exciting encounters and new horizons.
