Auditory topologies – sound experiments between system and chaos

The digital research and presentation centre storyLab kiU in the Dortmunder U is the perfect location for the musical laboratory experiments of the three artists featured this evening. Their works operate in the field of auditory topology, a sound art practice that deals with spatial structures, technological processes and unpredictable sound developments.

Thomas Breuer, also known as Vactrolog, creates a sonic ecosystem that always goes its own way despite precise control. Noémi Büchi constructs an electronic-symphonic maximalism that acoustically interprets the phenomenon of liquefaction.. Amsterdam-based Fedde ten Berge develops his own instruments and sound installations – at BLAUES RAUSCHEN he performs a groovy club set with his Pseudo Random Pulse Voyager and the Thrice Truncated Triangle.

On the ground floor, storylab KiU will open the Page21 project during the event, a prototype of a digital, narrative, multi-sensory art journey in a visually and audibly immersive space.

To mark the festival, storylab kiU is also opening its in-house sound installations page21 and the Fulldome: sound is movement, movement is sound! In the new Intention:Immersion format, the foyer of the Dortmunder U will be transformed into a digital experience space. In the immersive space, you listen to page21‘s sound installation with your eyes closed – while your hands follow the sounds and leave visual traces on the floor with pens. This creates a multi-layered, collective soundscape. In the Fulldome, an immersive installation by the Koproduktionslabor invites you to control, manipulate and recreate sounds and music yourself using motion tracking.
