Portrait XO operates at the intersection of music, art and artificial intelligence. The Berlin-based artist and researcher artistically questions how machine learning enhances creative processes without dehumanizing them. Between experimental pop, generative composition and neural networks, sound spaces emerge in which organic emotion and algorithmic structure overlap. Her works question authorship, creative control and the symbiotic relationship between man and machine − futuristic songwriting that delves deep into the mechanics of sonic evolution. 

At her first performance at BLAUES RAUSCHEN 2022, Portrait XO presented her program Wire, which was created with the help of DataBots and a specially trained AI. On the final evening of this year’s festival, Portrait XO wants to sensitize the audience to the complex problems of our world with The Cost of Connection. Her audiovisual live performance explores global challenges with the help of AI and data sonification. Based on key data sets from the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), she transforms data into sound and image: a multi-sensory performance in which layers of AI-generated vocals interweave with sombre harmonies and pulsating rhythms; audiovisual elements make the creative process visible. 

In addition, Portrait XO will lead an open performance workshop on “Data Ethics and Creative Practice” at BLAUES RAUSCHEN 2025. Here, participants will explore and develop together how a moral and sustainable artistic approach to data and AI is possible.
