Seeing, tasting, smelling, warmth: What do we need to develop technically so that people can intuitively and emotionally play music with their bodies and senses?

Playtronica is a studio and collective of artists, engineers, designers, and musicians that focuses on how senses can be used musically. The artists see the body as a battery that uses electricity to let the brain communicate with other body parts. Playtronica interprets the meaning of touch biologically, semantically, culturally, and in an urban context. They combine music with various disciplines such as visual arts, animation, dance, and storytelling, developing and using affordable technologies and tools. The idea: to inspire people with technology and minimalist aesthetics that enable unusual sensory experiences and represent a departure from linear representations of reality.

For BLAUES RAUSCHEN Playtronica Berlin − Aglaya Demidenko and Sasha Pas − present Orbita, a turntable-like, kinetic color sequencer that transforms movement and hues into sound and builds on synaesthetic experiments to explore color-music relationships. The instrument playfully and dynamically connects what we see with what we hear.
