Noémi Büchi

The corporeality of music: At BLAUES RAUSCHEN, the Swiss-French composer and sound artist Noémi Büchi presents live liquefaction with references to her previous compositions and her current EP “liquid bones.” Büchi’s sonic structures and aesthetic choices question the state of materiality in an increasingly fluid and immaterial world and suggest a new avant-garde that “is not about creating something that does not yet exist, but about abandoning and confusing rigid genres.” Her electronic maximalism challenges our linear perception of time and offers a glimpse into a world where past, present, and future merge into a single moment. The artist juxtaposes multi-layered analogue synthesizer textures, crystal-clear sounds, and almost brutalist noises while unfolding in compositional structures reminiscent of pop songs. Driven by an orchestra of countless parts, her music generates transcendent intonations that resonate with the bodies of the listeners.

Noémi Büchi creates and explores the potential of cross-genre musical structures. Her music is defined by a delicate synthesis of textural rhythms and electroacoustic-orchestral abstraction. She contrasts rhythmic physicality with disruption and playfully emphasizes irregularities, creating an expansive listening experience marked by detail and elevation.
