Felicity Mangan
- Poly'bio'rhythms
Galleries, parks, clubs all over Europe − and now for the first time at BLAUES RAUSCHEN: Australian Felicity Mangan is going to perform the exciting field recording project Poly’bio’rhythms in Gelsenkirchen. Poly’bio’rhythms is a sound-based research project for which Mangan combines a technique related to model synthesis (also known as wave function collapse) with bioacoustic recording techniques. This allows the fascinating sound colours and biorhythms of different places to be represented − in Mangan’s case, these include the North Sea, Bergamo in Italy and various places in her Australian homeland. The result is a complex, polyrhythmic structure and truly experimental electronic listening.
The sound artist and composer Felicity Mangan has lived and worked in Berlin since 2008. In her varied performances and creative collaborations, she creates quasi-bioacoustic musical worlds from samples and found sounds. Her passion for music is evident in her numerous solo publications, including Stereo’frog’ic on Longform Editions. Other releases include Creepy Crawly (Mappa Editions) and Train Tracks − Recorded and Editing by Felicity Mangan on the Swedish avant-garde label Possible Motive. She is also part of the duo Native Instrument, alongside Norwegian Stine Janvin.
