For musicians, cycles are everyday life. From the circle of fifths, composing with loops to producing with samples. Often the wish: The own piece on record. And the demand is increasing. Although according to the latest findings, music on vinyl is probably more climate-friendly than streaming services, it is an enormous use of energy and plastic in production. When faced with the choice of releasing a sound collage on vinyl, I learned about companies that have designed their facilities to be energy efficient, recycle heat, and recycle vinyl used in record production. And that’s how mispressed sounds and edge pieces are turned back into a new sound product.

BIO
Nils Mosh is a listener, a field recordist, a sound artist and designer from Essen, Germany. In his works, he explores the spirit of sound from various local and close-by locations. He always listens to the places in their social context and examines them for the interaction between nature and man-made influences. And in between, he simply opts out of the world and falls in love with the sound of the resonances of a handrail or the delicate chirping of a water beetle.
His output includes award winning radio works, collages for exhibitions and installations, sound art composition for national and international performances, talks and lectures at various universities and panels, digital and analog releases as well as sound effect recordings and library creation.
