,,The electronic musician and Nine Inch Nails member’s latest project, built around his new custom synthesiser, features some of his most vibrant music to date,” writes Pitchfork 2021, introducing Alessandro Cortini’s latest album Scuro Chiaro. Epic drone surfaces line up with gently wafting synths, invite emotional atmosphere or touch deeply like an Oscar-winning film soundtrack. Cortini produced the album alone with his newly developed superstar: the Strega synthesiser, specially developed and produced together with Make Noise! Inspired by Cortini’s music and sound experiments, Strega embodies the seen and the unseen, the sign and the magic, the alchemy of sound.
For Blaues Rauschen, Cortini packs his Strega, shows us live improvising the power and diversity of his gem declared as an “alchemical experiment”.

Alessandro Cortini is an Italian musician, songwriter and composer known for his involvement in various industrial and alternative projects, most notably Nine Inch Nails, and who has also released impressive electronic instrumental music as a solo artist. After forming the electronic rock band modwheelmood in the late 1990s, he became a touring member of NIN in 2005 and left the group in late 2008 to work on his solo projects blindoldfreak and Sonoio. He returned to NIN in 2013. That same year, he began a series of albums under his own name, showcasing his mastery of analogue and modular synthesizers. Alongside eerie yet accessible solo works such as Volume Massimo (2019) and Scuro Chiaro (2021), Cortini has also released collaborations with Merzbow, Lawrence English and Daniel Avery.
