4² is an audio-visual and graphic score project that explores the concepts of internal/external energy and data transformation flows, from physical space to mental space and back again. The composition is related and reordered to the magic square equation patterns proposed by Albrecht Dürer. Within this limited framework, a series of sinus landscapes act and react between certainty (order) and uncertainty (chaos), transcending into a multivirtual performance in which time-space and synchronicity of events are fluid and spontaneous. Seen as a metaphor, glissandi in the composition represent the pulsating frequency of energy exchange in our physical and virtual reality.

Berlin-based sound artist, electroacoustic improviser and visual artist Wei Kang Beh works to reshape the relationship between sound and time-space, action and perception in open/closed (virtual/physical) environments with the practice of different media. Inspired by unconventional approaches in contemporary art, technology and phenomena, his works explore the interface between human and non-human perception, behaviour, expression and environment. The resulting works include location-specific sound sculptures, room installations, performances and self-built instruments.
