Around 1500 Georg Agricola wrote a treatise on various spirits and other beings that one encounters in mining. They are part of the processes of nature and leave humans no choice other than to plan them in the everyday scenario. What does this scenario mean for our time? Are we prepared for the supercomputer that adapts to every change, or will we continue as before in an endless loop?

For “Straßengeister” the GRUPPE MOMENT plays with a steady, digitally controlled sound surface, which puts the place in a changing “hustle and bustle”. It uses sound sources that the performers carry with them and are controlled by the sound director via Wi-Fi. The audience can also become a participant in this sound surface by accessing an audio streaming provided via smartphone. Sound variables resulting from the algorithms of the audio tools manipulate the dramaturgical course of the performance – an interaction between man and machine.

The GRUPPE MOMENT is a collective of musicians and dancers, united by contemporary experimental art and shared ideas: electronic music as a symbol of never-ending hustle and bustle, choreography that tries to stop everything, and acoustic music that keeps everything in one different perspective. In Essen the group will perform with Daniela Petry – double bass,  Norman Jankoski – percussion, Tamon Yashima – electronics and Phaedra Pisimisi – dance.
