BLAUES RAUSCHEN 2026 – Resonance in the open space between breath and algorithm
Under the artistic direction of Karl-Heinz Blomann, the festival has been exploring the interfaces between humans and machines, reality and fiction, sound and silence since 2017. In 2026, BLAUES RAUSCHEN will focus even more strongly on the processual. Sound appears not as a finished work, but as a movement between body, technology, and space. Algorithmic processes, performative practices, voice, instruments, and electronics meet on equal terms and make artistic practice tangible in its material and social conditions.
Opening minds through art
In the Ruhr area, the festival opens up spaces where different aesthetic positions meet. Live coding, improvised setups, installation and performative formats stand side by side on an equal footing. Digital systems are not understood as neutral tools, but as co-actors in the artistic process. At the same time, physical presence, voice and direct interaction retain their importance.
A lecture talk complements the program and provides a discursive impulse. BLAUES RAUSCHEN 2026 sees itself as an open format, a platform for difference, for productive friction, and for a practice that understands sound as an ongoing process in the exchange between technology, space, and social context.
